Alexandra (Sandra) Matushenko (she/her) is counsel at Steinecke Maciura LeBlanc practicing in all areas of professional regulation.
Before joining SML, Sandra spent nearly eight years as Litigation Counsel and Senior Litigation Counsel at the Ontario Securities Commission’s Enforcement Branch and General Counsel’s Office. In the Enforcement Branch, Sandra investigated and prosecuted regulatory breaches of Ontario securities laws, including fraud, insider trading and market manipulation. In the General Counsel’s Office, she provided varied litigation, strategic, and risk advice to operational branches of the Commission and represented the Commission in public interest litigation before courts and the Capital Markets Tribunal. Sandra also summered and articled with the Commission. Prior to rejoining the Commission, Sandra was a litigation associate at a full-service firm, where she practiced in the area of civil litigation with an emphasis on professional negligence and liability.
Sandra obtained her law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she also completed an intensive program in anti-discrimination law. She has guest lectured at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.
Outside of the office, Sandra enjoys spending time (preferably outdoors) with her family.
