Melissa Everett Withers (she/her) is counsel at Steinecke Maciura LeBlanc practising in all areas of professional regulation.
Before joining SML, Melissa was General Counsel and Director of Complaints at a New Brunswick health regulator, where she prosecuted allegations of professional misconduct, provided advice to the complaints (screening) committee, and advised College leadership and Board of Directors regarding all aspects of regulation and operations of the College.
Prior to her work in professional regulation, Melissa was General Counsel for a technology services firm and practised with a large regional law firm where she specialized in litigation, labour, employment, and medical defence, and she appeared at all levels of court in New Brunswick as well as tribunals and arbitration panels.
Melissa obtained a Bachelor of Arts from St. Thomas University, where she maintained the Msgr. George W. Martin Scholarship, and earned her law degree from the University of New Brunswick, where she was a Beaverbrook Scholar.
